Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Formatly, operated by Shashi Kumar ("we", "us", "our"), based in Patna, Bihar, India, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use the Service.
1. Information we collect
- Account data — your email address and password (stored securely, hashed, via Supabase Auth), and your coin balance and transaction history.
- Files you upload — the PDFs you submit for conversion or question extraction, and the output files generated for you.
- Payment metadata — which plan you bought, the amount, and the transaction status. We never receive or store your card, UPI, or bank details — those are handled directly by PayU, our payment processor.
- Usage data — basic technical information like timestamps and error logs, used to keep the Service running reliably.
2. How we use your information
- To provide the conversion and question-bank features you request.
- To operate your account, coin wallet, and purchase history.
- To send transactional emails (e.g. account or payment confirmations).
- To detect abuse and keep the Service secure.
We do not sell your personal information to anyone.
3. Third parties we share data with
To provide the Service, uploaded documents and the resulting text are sent to Mathpix (OCR/PDF conversion) and, for question structuring, to our AI provider. Payments are processed by PayU. Account data and application data are stored with Supabase. Each of these providers only receives what's necessary to perform its part of the Service.
4. Data retention
We keep your account data and generated files for as long as your account is active, so you can re-download past conversions from My Downloads without paying again. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time — see Contact below.
5. Security
We use industry-standard measures — encrypted connections, hashed passwords, and access-controlled infrastructure — to protect your data. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information to the best of our ability.
6. Your rights
You can request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data by contacting us. We'll respond within a reasonable time.
7. Children's privacy
The Service is not directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect data from them.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date above.
