Terms of Service

1. The Service

Formatly lets you upload a PDF and convert it into other formats (Markdown, DOCX, LaTeX, HTML, JSON) using third-party OCR/conversion technology, and build formatted question banks from objective-question PDFs using AI. Output quality depends on the input document and the underlying third-party services we rely on — we don't guarantee a perfect conversion or extraction every time.

2. Accounts

You need an account to use the Service. You're responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for all activity under your account. Provide accurate information when registering and keep your email address up to date, since we use it for transactional and account-related communication.

3. Coins, payments and pricing

The Service uses a prepaid coin wallet. New accounts receive a starting bonus of free coins. Additional coins can be purchased in fixed packages shown on the Pricing page. Coins are deducted only after a conversion or extraction completes successfully — a failed upload or an unreadable document is never charged.

Coin payments are processed through PayU, a third-party payment gateway. We never see or store your full card, UPI, or bank credentials — that data is handled entirely by PayU and your bank. Coins have no cash value, cannot be exchanged for money, transferred to another account, or redeemed outside the Service, and do not expire.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• Upload content you don't have the legal right to process.
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose, or to infringe anyone's intellectual property or privacy rights.
• Attempt to disrupt, reverse-engineer, or gain unauthorized access to the Service or its infrastructure.
• Automate abuse of the coin wallet, referral, or signup-bonus system.

We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

5. Your content

You retain ownership of any document you upload and any file the Service generates for you. You're solely responsible for ensuring you have the right to upload and convert that content.

6. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We don't guarantee uninterrupted availability or error-free output, including AI-generated answers or solutions, which may occasionally be incorrect. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim relating to the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the three months before the claim arose.

7. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Patna, Bihar.

8. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Service after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
